My name is Dil Xochitl Jones, and I am a genderqueer Latinx artist and arts educator living in Austin, TX. As a Latinx artist dedicated to LGBTQ+ advocacy, my mission is to uplift self-love and acceptance through my art.
I strive to create an artistic space for my identity as a transgender Texan to be seen, heard and celebrated. My goal is to challenge gender stereotypes and liberate images of our bodies from political and social oppressions affecting the LGBTQ+ community. Using my art, I aim to explore how the struggles of loneliness and self-preservation have affected queer communities and led us to adapt after the closing of many queer-owned businesses in the last three years.
I believe the isolation and changes during the pandemic led me to tap into a new artistic well within my soul, and in sharing my art, I hope to invite you to join me in envisioning a world where our differences and unique human experiences can be accepted with love and joy.
